$100 insurance to insure a $800 investment for 2 years against drops, spills, cracks etc. Worth it imo. First time buying insurance on a phone btw.

Think about it - it costs $150ish to fix a broken screen. Much more if it gets water damaged. Insurance costs $99 with $79 deductible. You almost make all your money back after the first crack.

$100 is worth it for peace of mind for 2 years for me. May not make sense for others.

I've never bought insurance on a phone, and if I had an iPhone I'd never buy it.

My wife has busted screens on 2 iPhones now. She paid a grand total of $320 (plus tax) for 2 replacement phones. Refurbs from the apple store but same model. No insurance. Insurance would have gotten her new phones for a slightly higher total cost, but who cares.

Having said that, I bought the google insurance because I have 2.5 kids, and they are always dropping my phone. My S5 is in a slim otterbox case, but I just bought that flimsy looking case on the google website for my Pixel. I was nervous.

I have never bought a phone except from the att/sprint store and they usually do everything.

So you just buy a phone offline and put in your sim and sd card and all done, yeah?

All assuming i get a nexus or pixel from Google and use their project fi service

Doesn't even have to be Fi. The Pixels will work on any US carrier. Verizon just has exclusivity to sell it in store. Also, there's no SD slot on this phone, so keep that in mind.

What ab in the nexus? And is the nexus any good?

My SD card somehow got corrupted in my note4 this week. Hoping when i put it in my new phone it'll magically work.

No sd card slots in the Nexus 5X or 6P either. But yes, the Nexus 6P is still a great phone for the price.

Okay guys I am using mine. Very impressed so far, I was a huge note fan but this phone is fantastic. Very smooth and responds almost immediately. The Google assistant is the best thing about the phone. My wife told me Siri can't do that I want one of those phones, lol. I have a Verizon phone and it didn't come with any Verizon apps at all!! This is definitely different that make galaxy phones, but I love the change. Very very impressed. The assistant is capable of continuing a conversation to an extent. Responds to commands excellent, takes notes, calls, searches, messages etc. The one thing that impressed me most was I could tell the assistant send a message to John Doe to be at work tommorrow at 7. The text would read "be at work tommorrow at 7".

Yeah I've played around with the assistant quite a bit on allo. Even though I don't use allo to message. It's fantastic.

It's like groupme. It's can't do sms though so it's pretty pointless as your default text app. But it does have the assistant.

But unlike pixel you have to open the app up, then click on the assistant. As opposed to just holding home button down.

I ordered my phone through Google Fi and am going to pay 5 bucks a month for insurance.

My phone will be delivered by EOD today, the 21st. Won't be in the states to pick it up til 17 Nov, though.
