Outdoor LED Floodlight Recommendations

So, been in my house less than 2 months and already the crappy outdoor floodlight is out. I've decided to replace it with an LED bulb and will do that with each as they burn. Any recommendations? It's a motion sensor unit if that makes any difference (I don't believe it would though).

Any specific "model" I should look at?

Home Depot is really pushing CREE this month. I saw a huge endcap display yesterday when I was there.

Thanks. I got a few Home Depot gift cards....sounds like a great way to use 1 of them.

dont forget to check out their 4-pack. they're only $15 each if you buy them that way.
i can say the 100w CREE bulbs i put in my outdoor dusk/dawn lighting is legit. it even does the dim/bright motion activation thing like the old halogens i used to chew through like nothing.

May have to do that since I have 4 floodlights on the front of the house.

you run them all night?
the CREEs pay for themselves very quickly. They sip electricity and last for 22 years (supposedly) althought the warranty is 10 years I think.

I'd be their fricking spokesperson for free if they needed me to be. I am at the point now that anytime a light bulb goes out I'm only replacing them with Cree bulbs. The only situation I have where they don't work is my stove hood. It takes 2 Par 20 halogen bulbs. I tried those Phillips LEDs and they would only work on the high setting. The Cree floodlights I put in the backyard are awesome. Very clean light and broad spectrum.

You can do just the bulb but I'm going to change mine with what's in your link because it makes such a clean looking install.
eta: You don't have to actually replace the entire receptacle. You just basically gut the insides.

I might do the whole thing as well. Seems like the price is the same for just the bulb and like you said it's a cleaner look

I'm going to start replacing the bulbs in my house with LED as they burn out. If I have recessed lights can I just replace the bulb or do I have to replace the entire receptacle with something like this?
Use the LED retrofits for recess cans.
LED lamps put off a lot of heat which will cause the lamps to fail prematurely when enclosed in a recess can.

Look at the feit enhanced LEDs for cans. High cri so they look like regular bulbs. I have 88 of them in my new house...3 months going strong I love them.
I need some less for the floods tho. I have sofit lights that are halo LEDs (wave light or something like that) that I leave on all night. But I want some floods that reach out into the yard more. I want something more than those 65 watt equivalents

The motion sensor pair is on all night, but I don't leave the others on all night because I don't want them to burn out so damn quickly.

Honestly, there is very little energy savings between the LED and the twisty florescent floods and the florescent lasts a long time too. But the florescent floods are currently MUCH less expensive.

Energy savings...no your right not much....quality of light...BIG difference. CFL makes me Not to mention warm up time for said CFLs and needing a hazmat team if you happen to drop and brake one.
