So I've had Kodi with TVMC for about a week now. Me and the girlfriend love it. So we are planning on cutting the cord for good when we move into a new place in the next few weeks. I have a few questions tho. I'm sure some of you will be able to easily answer.

Since it seems IPTV Stalker is shut down, I'm cool with paying for a legal IPTV subscription. The best 2 from my research seem to be SlingTV and USTVNow. Does anyone have experience enough to tell me which one to definitely chose.

SlingTV - $20/month + $5/month for sports package
USTVNow - $20/month for 3 months. Then $29/month

Next. If i want reliable and stable streaming for all devices I need to beef up the hardware from the stock crap I have with AT&T obviously. So, I'll be wanting a 3rd party AC Dual Band wireless router and likely a modem. But does AT&T UVerse allow 3rd party modems and routers? How can i find out what 3rd party modems and routers are AT&T or Comcast approved/accepted?

Ok, I cut the cord a few months ago and I am loving the savings and the new way to watch tv. But I am looking into sling tv for upcoming football season to be able to watch most games (I think this is my only option). The thing that makes me laugh is that we claim to be "cord cutters" correct, but sling tv, which alot of us get, is still connected to Dish network.... So are we truly cord cutters?? Its like saying I am vegan, but I still eat hotdogs.. The finger is pointing at me also on this, I am going to get Sling in September when the season starts unless I can figure out how to watch the games another way..

good points.

it's still cool to say i'm a cord cutter, we'll just not tell anyone we have Sling. And if someone calls us out on it, we'll say we had to have it for football.

Did you have to use the ADBFire program like you had to first use it to install Kodi through a laptop? Or are you going through Kodi on the Fire and entering in the https: link? If it's through ADB, I can't find the sportsdevil zip file when I get in the menu for "Install APK"

To simplify, I have the sportsdevil zip and an unzipped version but when I use the ADB program to "install APK" none of the sportsdevil files will show

Edit: I figured it out, I didn't realize there was an actual PUSH button on the program that allows you to pick where you want to push it to.

Is anyone elses really slow at times?

I sideloaded Kodi and I'm getting script errors when I try to access USTVNow and the concert archive. Any ideas what causes this?

Not sure about concert archive, but you need an account for USTVNow Boom.

It's free and real quick to sign up.

I officially cut the cord today.

Nothing too complicated for my setup right now, just beefed up my wireless network buy upgrading to DOCSIS 3.0 and a dual band router. Running a Roku 3 downstairs and a Roku Stick upstairs. Have digital tuners for local cable tv programs, Sling TV for ESPN, HBO, and various others, and Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc for TV shows and movies. Love it so far. Roku 3 on the 5 mhz wifi band is money.

I have a question regarding UHF and VHF signals. Can I use the same cable to plug into both of these antennas using a splitter? Or does each one need its own line? I am having trouble here in Thibodaux trying to catch WVUE and WAFB. I can get close to 20 channels but not those. I have a Clearstream 4 mounted outside about 20ft high.

Not sure. Maybe someone else will chime in. I just connected the coax on my tv and ran a program scan here in BR - picked up like 40+ channels. Some are un-watchable quality, but still pretty cool I can pick up that many channels for free.

Am I the perfect Sling candidate? Some info:
quote:

- Haven't had cable in 5+ years
- We only have one TV
- I am completely uninterested in any non-college football related content
- Wife watches zero television (maybe rents one movie per month)
- Own a Roku 2[edit - actually Roku LT]

So it seems like the perfect solution is the $25/month Sling package with the sports add-ons - I don't care about AMC, HBO, or whatever, and since we only have one TV I'd only need one license. I definitely think this is worth it if you view it as paying $10/month for ESPN, $10 for ESPN2, and $5 for SEC Network. Then cancel in January. Total outlay ~$150 (including fees).

Is there some drawback or catch I am missing here? If not I am signing up this week.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but was wondering if anyone has used a Tablo DVR?

As close as I can tell, you attach a OTA antenna and external hard drive to it and it acts as a DVR that streams wi-fi via a Roku type device attached to your television.

It means each TV will need a device, but there are no cords to string and you get and record all the locals.

I'm thinking about cutting the cord with this and adding SlingTV during the football season.

Curious if anyone has used a Tablo and what their opinion is.

Does anyone have experience with NFL Sunday Ticket through Xbox One? NFL is the only thing I don't have covered with my set up.

Kinda wondering the same thing. I'm setting up my game room and want to just have my PS3 play NFL and MLB games.

If there's a better way to do it, let me know.

About to drop cable and get Sling TV.

Would you guys suggest 15mbps being good enough to run with it? I live alone, and when my GF is here we are watching TV together/Netflix. She will get on her phone and get on Facebook/Instagram or whatever but other than that, nothing that will drain a lot of internet.

i think it will be OK if your tv is either 1) close to your router or 2) you hardwire your streaing box (roku or whatever). i hardwired my roku and it works much better than wireless with amazon fire stick

Okay guys, I have a few questions here. I'm officially cutting the cord. I just purchased the 7 day sub for Sling TV for $25.

This is what I need to know:

1. Which device should I get? Amazon Fire TV, Fire Stick, Roku TV or Roku Stick?

2. I've seen KODI referenced here. With KODI, I see that you can get access to other streaming avenues with free TV shows and movies.

What exactly am I getting access to here? Is it sort of like a firstrowsports, but an app? Also..which device should I purchase to get this KODI app?

I probably left off a few more questions that I need to know, so if you guys are aware, let me know of other things I need to know before I make the purchase.

Thanks
