I noticed that the international version is cheaper. I've read that international version isn't compatible with certain carriers. From what I understand, I should be good since I have t mobile. But what other differences or what is the international version lacking. Why is it cheaper and is there any reason for me to buy the US version of the phone?

The difference is the radio in the phone. You need to check the LTE bands and see if it's compatible with your carrier.

So I'm just realizing that my current phone (Nexus 5) is also an international version... So I should be good. I've never really had any problems with signal or anything except, sometimes In a building like a big school or hospital I don't get signal while my friends with other carriers do. I just always assumed it was a signal issue with T-Mobile, but is it possible that the international phone has worse reception or maybe just my particular phone is a dud.

Take a look at this lin.

The international version (6P) does not have LTE bands 12 or 13, which are used by T-Mobile and Verizon in the U.S., respectively. I believe it is also missing some Spring bands, but I'm not as familiar with those.

If you're on T-Mobile, you will not be able to use their lower band (12) LTE with the international version. Mostly means rural coverage will be worse where they have band 12 active. Same for Verizon really, as their band 13 in the lower MHz band that goes out further.
