Need suggestions for a home security camera system

What camera system should I go with? And is wireless sufficient these days or should I go through the trouble of running ethernet to each camera? I don’t have a concern running ethernet - just a bit more work.
My WiFi coverage is spotty in some places in the house so that may be a concern although I could always try to avoid installing in those dead zones.
I also plan to install a couple/few outdoor cameras as well.

Wayne,
The link below shows the system I got on Amazon. Its not currently available on Amazon but Ebay looks like they have it available. Cheaper too. When I bought it I paid like 250 for it. You can pay 800 bucks for a super high end name brand system, or something like this. This is chinese stuff for sure, but I have this 8 channel system in my house and it works great. I installed it myself and which was pretty simple except for the running of the camera cables. I am very picky about wires not showing anywhere so I made it harder on myself. The instructions are crap the way chinese electronics usually are but there really isn't much to it since everything just plugs in. They even have decent tech support which I didn't expect. Hardest part was running the cables which are 60 ft long each. You can buy longer ones also but picture quality goes down if you go a lot longer. If you centrally mount the system in your home, you should have no problem reaching most areas unless you have a huge home. I do not recommend a wireless system unless you have a very small home and buy a 1500 dollar system. I have not had good luck with those except for an expensive one that stayed with a home I sold in Texas.
The picture is surprisingly clear. I think its like 720p. Night vision works well. You can setup motion alerts for just specific areas of the picture. View your cameras on your phone. Works with Android or iPhone. I've never gotten it to work with my PC but then I haven't really tried much either. The phone app works well and I have HDMI going out to a splitter that runs HDMIs through the attic to four TVs in the house setup on HDMI 2. For the price, I couldn't be happier. Been going for two years with no issues. Every now and then their server might be down for a day where you cannot access the video remotely but it's happened like 3 times in 2 years so not bad at all.
If the link doesn't work, just search Defeway 8ch security camera system. Should be around 169.99

If you plan to install one outdoors, wireless cams might be something worth checking out. We have a bunch of it and everything's doing good so far. But I noticed that these cameras sometimes fail to work properly when there's an intermittent connection. That seldom happens to us anyway so it's still worth it. You can read more of home security options. Should help you narrow your choices. Wireless cams nowadays are a bit costly too, but there are few that are decent enough.
