Need best internet connection for Xbox Live

If my PC is in the bedroom connected to the Comcast cable modem/router can I connect a cable modem to my Xbox 360 to provide a direct connection? Do I need another router at the TV/Xbox? I constantly get disconnected from Xbox Live while playing Destiny.
I have been looking at the Motorola surfboard modem but not sure if it's what I need. Any info or recommendations would be appreciated.

I had problems with a slow wireless connection with my PS4. I ended up trying a power line network kit.
Performance has been very good so far, I'm getting my rated speed across these (100mbps)
