My laptop is restarting while I'm away and I can't figure out how to stop it...

On battery power, I have it set to shut off after 30 minutes. That's fine. I have it set to never shut off when plugged in.

The thing is, while I'm at work, it's been restarting about twice a week. This fricks up my ability to stream music via Plex. I'll come home, and the laptop will be on, but on the sign in section. The whole thing started right around the time Windows Action Center popped up. Apparently this has existed for quite a while, but it only just showed up on my Windows 10 laptop about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Any ideas where else I can go in settings to make sure my laptop never restarts without my saying so?

The most obvious thing where the computer would restart itself is auto updates for Windows. I feel a bit like I'm telling you to jiggle the cable, but have you checked that?

Both my laptop anf desktop recently had an update of Windows 10. Maybe a service pack went out to everyone.

Check the event viewer. Mine was doing that and it was restarting due to crashes caused by a video card driver.

Where on settings would I go to check this? Again, I looked all over the place to see WTF was going on. Windows 10. Thanks.

Right-click on the Start button and go into Computer Management. Select: Event Viewer. Check for errors or any events that might explain the restarts during the applicable time frame.

I would check your shutdown settings again. I know Microsoft pushed an update (I think last Thursday) that reset some of my clients sharing settings. It's conceivable that your machine went back to the old default settings.

No one else has been having this issue? I've done a handful of things to try to stop it without luck. Windows removed previous options to prevent automatic restarts. I've attempted a handful of "fixes" with no luck. Just now trying this most recent one and hopefully it works.

I don't understand how a bunch of people aren't pissed off about this. Everyone freaked the frick out when Win 10 removed the start button, but the outcry is minimal when it forces restarts? People are losing work that they had open at the time and it's fricking with my ability to listen to music at least twice a week.

Why would I be pissed off because your laptop keeps rebooting?

Could some application be doing the restarts instead of windows?

Is your disk drive nearly full?

Is your battery going bad? Even if you are on the charger all the time?
