I bought a new laptop a couple months ago that didn't come with office, is there anywhere/way to get this cheaper than the $150 from the website?

They'll probably cut you some slack then.

Just steal a laptop with MS Office then. Roll your own tree afterwards to celebrate the victory.

I purchased Office for $10 through my company. I know that doesn't help you at all, just wanted to throw it out there.

So long as you still have an email ending in .edu you can probably get the student version.

Besides, $150 really isn't that much.

Odds are Google Docs will take care of whatever you need for free.

If I'm doing bare-bones formatting for a one-off, sure. But if I'm going to use something that has even slightly advanced features that I need to take time to learn, I'll pay the money for the standard everyone uses.

The price of the software is far less costly than the time you use to get proficient in it.
