Any of you boys need something like this...in the rather immediate area of BR....Lafayette would be perfect.

I'm willing to move but not so willing that I won't look local first.

A rather large healthcare company in BR done decided they aren't just trimming fat....they are taking the chain saw to it...all of IT

A few of my friends who worked at LSU have left recently. I'd check there as a sort of last resort. The pay isn't great but it keeps the lights on...

I'm also considering going away from the development side of IT and into Security or some other IT Pro role.....I have a good in for a very good paying position at Lafayette General just trying to determine if pulling that trigger is a way I want to go career wise.

Amedisys cutting?

Are you a developer or just a build/release manager?

LINK

Apparently their new in house system failed miserably after five years of development.

I wouldn't say that coding is a strength or a passion so I'm not a developer.

Good luck to you. I've always seen positions there and never applied to any of them due to a gut feel I had. Guess I wasn't wrong.

If what you just wrote is true, that is terrible news for the local market.

Pretty sure all IS people in the area knew this long ago...AM was, from what I knew, a last resort for most of the staff they had

Absolutely not true. Amedisys was a great place to work, but I'm glad I left when I did. There are really only a handful of decent sized companies in BR for IT jobs. People were constantly going between Amedisys, BCBS, Sparkhound, Lamar, Appro/CRIF, Shaw and recently IBM. Now there is one less...and they were a big employer of IT in BR. Sad news.

Any company with an IT department that large is going to have some bad hires, but I worked there for 2 years and worked with some very bright people and hard workers. I was a hiring manager and I certainly didn't just hire anybody.
