My folks like in a 4500ish sq ft house that gets the absolute worse wireless reception. When I plug straight into the modem I'm getting 60mbs but with wireless blows.

I'm going to buy them a mesh router and I'm thinking of going with Google Wifi. The bundle that comes with 3 wifi points. One for the front, one for the middle and one for the back of the house.

Do you think this will fix their problem?

Probably. If there is still a dead/shitty spot you can get them another one.

Walmart has google onhub routers on clearance. You can use these to make a mesh network. May be cheaper if you can find them

Why choose a mesh router system over an access point? Is this just an ease of installation without running wires? Or is the Mesh system better?

I'm building a new house and wondering if I'm setting it up wrong. I'm planning to bring everything to a central closet, then run POE to Ubiquiti APs.

I like our Plume wifi system. It fixed our wifi dead spots. I had a Netgear R8000 previously. I point everyone to the same reviews to help with the decision.
