I have watch espn on my phone to watch the game tonight, but how can I stream it to the tv. I was thinking a stick but what is the process on my phone to make it work? When I plug in a stick wil the screen mirroring give me the option? Thanks.

I don’t yet. I was going to go get one. Is there one better than the other.

Just get a Chromecast or fire stick. Both are simple to use. If you are comfortable with using your phone and have a lot of content on it get the Chromecast.

I have a chrome cast at home on one of my tv’s. When streaming Netflix there is an icon that switches it to chrome cast but I don’t see anything like that on the watch espn app. How do I physically connect two devices.

There is the same little square icon in the watch ESPN app. Make sure on the same WiFi as the Chromecast.

I don’t have WiFi here. Did I have to have it?

Yeah. You can use your mobile hotspot on your phone if you don't have WiFi.

If you are getting a stick, why wouldn’t you just use the watchespn app native to that device? What’s the benefit of casting from your phone?

He's asking. He's not claiming casting is the best thing ever.

I get that. I was just asking if there was some benefit I was missing. It seems like an unnecessary extra step to me.

I am at the lake and we don’t have WiFi. Do I have to download an app on my phone. BTW, I went pick up a chrome cast.

Does the tv have wifi? Do you have a wifi adapter for the tv?

Chromecast only casts it to the TV. The others you'd download the app on the device like you said. If you're using YouTube for example it's easier to rewind/ff and type something out on your phone to search then do it on a keypad on the tv screen clicking your remote. Also, there are apps that you can use to cast any video on a site to the TV (pirated ufc fight from the night before for example). Easier to use and find those on the phone. Otherwise, there's nothing special about casting from your phone vs just using a fire stick or whatever especially where you have more controls with a remote.
