Well, that's a tough situation.
Most high profile, large network TV shows will show up within an hour after going on live. But I'm not sure you would want to rely on a stream being available after inviting folks over.
if you cut the cord, you may want to give it a test run the first week.
But yeah, I absolutely recommend knocking that $140 cable bill out. Mine was $145-$150. UVerse 300 + HBO + 25mbps. Now, as i mentioned earlier. I'm at around $75. 105mbps Comcast + $20 for SlingTV. So I came close to cutting my bill in half. And once football season is over, it will be less than half.
I have $20/m Sling package + $5/month (sports package). So I can get ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNNews, and SECNetwork. Which is also a subscription for WatchESPN.

Where in any of my post do I say anything about streaming 4K?

I just ordered this Android TV unit for $60 that has XBMC(Kodi) pre-installed.

quote:i find it has more to do with the server you're streaming from than anything else. i've pretty much given up on streaming HD from icefilms. i have a couple go-to servers like vkbox and yify that always seem to work well.
But I'm streaming 1080p they Genesis as we speak. No issues

quote:problem with vk and yify is the files are a sad sampling of 1080p. Such low bitrate. And I hate that hardly anyone retains the 5.1 audio in the encodes.

most certainly.
if i open a stream and it starts off buffering. I close it out and find another. I know it's not my internet causing the lag.

Just a few notes...
...No need to root your fire tv or stick...
...If you know how to run kodi effectiviely, update platform regularly and use tweaks, you will minimize issues....

i can live with 720p and decent audio for 99% of my viewing. anything above that is lagniappe.
i use the Conq skin, so i'm not sure if everyone sees what i'm seeing, but it looks like they distinguish between "HD" streams and "1080p" streams. i assume all the HD ones are bare minimum 720p, and yify and vkbox are always just labeled "HD".

In the thread "cutting the cord" ....I placed some buffering values/directions for you to use diff than the others I posted that seem to work much more efficiently
