It's a 55" LG LED, model 55LM6700-UA -- after Googling, I removed the back cover and tried to clean the LVDS cables, but it did no good.
Is the T-Con the likely cause, and is this something a novice can replace on his own?
If not, any suggestions on a repairman/cost?

I had the same tv (or one very close). But I had geek squad protection. They said it was a screen problem and tryied to order the part. After 30 days, they have a policy. They gave me store credit to go pick out any identical tv with the same features.

Profit!

Sorry your in the situation, but I think you're screwed.

Get some furniture so ADT has something worth protecting.

Now that you mention it, it does look like it's sitting on a wood floor...but that is actually a table.
