Just received a certification in Security + ... What now?

As someone with no IT background, and no plans to go into anything IT concentrated, is this something that can boost a salary? Where can I use it outside of working in something directly IT?
I didn't really expect to get it, but now that I have I really don't know what's next with it...
Any help is appreciated.

absolutely nothing if you are not using it

It means you already meet a pre-req for IT positions within DoD. But if you're not an IT person and not working in the IT field then it was a waste of ~$250 for the cert. It will only be valid for 3 years unless you complete the continuing ed requirements after expiration.

what was your goal of getting the cert?
If you have no plans of pursuing a career in IT and/or Information Security it is 100% useless.

To be completely honest, it likely wouldn't even warrant a raise if you were an IT or security professional. It's considered a very entry level certification.

Did your company just pay for random certs? Or did you pay for it? Seems like a pretty foolish way to waste money if aren't going to do IT work.

With no background, no desire to go into IT, and an industry that values job experience over anything on paper, you may use that cert as toilet paper.

Thanks for the responses. That's what I figured
I was given a voucher for it and used it.

Anyone in the IT industry knows that about sums up the value of a Security+ cert.
Hope you didn't pay too much for it.
