I am looking at the Wemo ($38) or TP-Link ($30) Smart Plug so I can turn my TV and sound system on. Will I need 2 plugs for that or I can turn a few things on by using a strip of plugs into the Smart Plug? Go Wemo or TP?
I guess lights would be next and Hue is the go to choice?
Any other add-ons people like for Alexa?

I have some hue bulbs that I got to play around with. It's pretty great being able to tell alexa to control them, but so far that control is limited to simply on/off and brightness 0-100...unless there's something I'm missing.
All in all, it's fun to frick around with them. I got them as a birthday present, otherwise I may not have them.

Yeah I was just reading it's basic on and off. I don't much care about the lights as much, but the TV, AVR, etc sounds cool to me.

I ordered 1 TP-Link switch to check it out and see how it works. I'll get more if all goes well. I have a Samsung HDTV so hopefully it won't be an issue.
Do you need different plugs or can you plug a strip into the smart plug and have multiple things turn on/off?
