I have one and use it regularly. By jailbroken do you mean having Kodi installed? If so, yes I do

kodi is fairly easy to navigate. My wife has it figured out and she is not that technical. Just have to understand what it does well and what it doesn't do well!

"Rooting" is what you are looking for re: the Fire Stick. You'll get better results, faster by searching for "rooting fire stick".

However let me add that you do not have to 'root' a fire stick for load Kodi. You can 'side load' the app last I checked.

It's easier than you think. Just make sure that at least one person in the house has working knowledge in case of emergency.

I would encourage you to just know how to add programs (sometimes they disappear) and overall how to use it.

I recommend setting up the stick yourself. It's super easy and will take someone like you max 30 minutes. That way you know how to do things if a problem arises.

It's a great thing to have though. Those $40+ trips to the theater hurt more after you get one.

I sideloaded Kodi.

took about 10 minutes after watching a "how to" on youtube.

Simple

My only complaint about the fire stick is it will sometimes crash while playing a movie. Doesn't happen often but still annoying.

Did you use fusion?

ETA: LINK

I used this after and I have had zero issues with the stick. Lots of builds on that, that you might find interesting.

I use fusion and never had it crash in mid movie.

By the way fusion is the most user friendly repo I've used out of the 5 I've loaded. My 9 year old can navigate it and watch his shows.

I've watched the video on side loading kodi but I installed it by using es file explorer or something like that name and downloaded out straight like that.

Kodi is great for on demand movies and TV shows. Install the Exodus addon and that's all you need. Live TV and Live Sports is not Kodi's strength. Sportsdevil is a good addon for Live Sports but you have to download and install it manually. Then you have to update it manually every month or so. I have been using Flawless IPTV for the last 6 weeks and really like it. You do have to pay 10 pounds ....bout $13 per month but you get all UK and US cable channels in HD with no buffering. They have an app in the play store so you dont even have to install Kodi to use it. I have it on my phone and tablet too. I have watched the last 3 LSU games using flawless and its....flawless. The drawbacks are the guide is pretty minimal. You can see whats on currently and the next show coming up. (You can integrate Flawless with a guide such as iVue or Perfect Player which gives you a better guide. But its a little tricky to get it set up. I'm using perfect player). And there is no PVR.

It's easy to use. If you are semi tech savy you can jailbreak it yourself. I didn't know how to do it so I bought a Fire Stick and googled how to install Kodi on it. Now I have Kodi on it and didnt have to pay some rando $40 to install it.

Yeah I got a guy at work that sells them for $90 and I asked him if it just had kodi and he said no you get all the hbo go ESPN and other things on it as well...I didn't ask any further but it's there a way to get those without having your own login with cable provider? If not, then people are basically paying $50 for someone to spend 10-15 minutes of loading kodi...I asked him does he tell them how to reinstall an add on because sometimes when it updates I have to reinstall exodus and he said no. That's a shame there's no good customer service anymore! I'd get upset if I paid $90 and only worked for a month and lost an add on that worked good.

Jokes on him. I'll do it for $60

ETA: And I have better customer service.

Shoot, sounds more like the jokes on whoever pays that much for that little service! I remember seeing people trying to sell them for $90 on Facebook sell sites around last Christmas. I just laughed at all the people flocking there asking questions and wanting one...
