As a preface, let me say that I am way out of touch in regard to Ipods. I've had the same Ipod classic for about 5 years or so and I'm completely fine with it because all I care about is putting music and audiobooks on it. But my dilemma is it needs the auxiliary jack replaced. It's also a 160GB which is insanely excessive for me. I have about 16GB's on it at the moment. I'm debating whether or not to fix my current Ipod or just sell it and get a new one but I don't know shite about the current Ipods.

What are the major advantages/disadvantages to having an Ipod touch over the classic? I understand the obvious in having the touchscreen, which to be honest is appealing in and of itself because using the wheel to navigate through my media while driving is a bit of a pain in the arse, but what else?

I do, but I didn't want to clog up all my storage with my Itunes library. Granted I have a shite ton of available space on my phone at the moment.

ETA: I have a Nexus 6. How is Itunes with syncing to non-Apple devices?

On a scale from 1-10? A 0?

I was in your boat Chewey. I've got a 20gb nano because my 16gb iPhone couldn't hold everything. I spent the money and got a 128gb iPhone at my last upgrade, but I still use my nano in the car and on my dock. My phone isn't sync'd with my computer, and I've got a done of carryover music from cd's that's really easy to throw on an iPod.

That's what I figured.

Also, doesn't itunes only allow you to sync to a single device? It just seems like they make this shite more complicated than it has to be.

Let me ask you this, if I was looking for an Apple product solely to listen to music and audiobooks in the car and on a dock with, with a capacity of ~32gb, what would you suggest?

I think the Touch is the only one offered in 32GB.

Yep, just checked the apple site. I would get the latest Nano for the car. They have Bluetooth pairing now, and a smaller touchscreen. I don't think they have apps like an iPod touch, but decent enough for what you're using. It also has a built in radio, and I think that would come in handy at times, like when you have it docked, if your docks don't have a radio built in. The touch doesn't.

If storage is an issue, you may want to get the 32GB touch. The Nano is only offered in 16GB, and it is $149. The 16 GB touch is $199, and the 32GB is $249.

I use an older 8 GB nano in the car. I have to plug it in, but I just keep music on there. I also have some playlists on my phone, but if I want to listen to those I just connect with Bluetooth and use the phone to start one. I used to love having everything connected and using my headunit to control it, but now that everything has Bluetooth it is just as easy to use that.

you can upload 32,000 of your personal mp3s to google cloud for free and access them via google play music.

then you only 'pin' albums to your phone you want when a strong data signal isn't available.

works fantastic..but i have tmobile and music streaming doesn't add up on my data cap.

Just get a 64 gig iphone and subscribe to Spotify or Apple Music. That should cover everything.

Buy a used ipod nano if you want something portable for gym/car/etc.

i have a 160GB classic and have it completely filled up... so sell your classic to me if you get rid of it

I think I probably will end up selling it. So post your email if interested and I'll let you know.

I think I'm going to have to take you up on this, because I'm struggling a bit. I uploaded most of my iTunes library to my Google account, though for unknown reasons it didn't upload some. I don't think it uploaded my audio books either.

Anywho, I understand how to play music from the Google cloud on my phone but that is not practical when I'm in my car, which is when I do 99% of my listening, due to data usage.

So what I'd like to do is simply store media on my phone but when I tried last night I couldn't figure out how or where to store it. On my iPhone it was as simple as can be.

Can you give me some pointers here?
