iPhone 6 Plus Using Exorbitant Amount of Data

My iPhone 6 Plus is using what seems like an enormous amount of data relative to the tasks I use it for. I do not stream audio or video on this phone, rarely download from the App Store and regularly close all background apps, but am easily blowing through more than 1.5gigs of data per month. As a test, I reset my data statistics and turned off data usage for all apps by safari. I then loaded TigerDroppings.com and checked the data usage and it had used nearly 10MB from loading this site alone.
Does anyone know if that sounds correct? Do any of you have any tips for limiting data usage?
Thanks in advance.

Are you loading the mobile version or the desktop version? Mobile will turn off sigs/avatars and a bunch of other stuff. But 1.5 Gigs isn't an exorbitant amount of data. I used around 6GB last month. Check to make sure you're using the mobile versions of sites where available.

Blowing through 1.5 gigs is really easy. I'm not a heavy user, but I've found that I I would regularly exceed 2, but not by much.

Go to Settings -> Cellular There you'll see a list of apps, and if they've used data how much data they've used. You can also turn an app's access to cellular data off.

Thanks for the responses. It sounds like this is actually a typical amount of data usage.
Appreciate the tip, Tiger.
