IPad Mini 4 Questions

I currently have a second gen full size iPad that's met its demise. I was looking at maybe getting an iPad mini 4. I like the size of the tablet. Is there any deals on it? Is there a new mini coming out I should wait for?
I primarily use it for aviation related tasks Foreflight, Wingx pro 7, ADS-B, etc.

Not sure on that, but the last mini update was in 2015.

Just an FYI, I was in sams today and saw a sign that said "Due to Apple supply shortages, stock of iPads (etc) are extremely limited."
So I've been looking around and no one has iPads right now outside of the Apple Store.
Apparently there is (was) supposed to be an event in March. And retailers were trying to shed stock in anticipation of a new device, which is why you've been able to find deals lately.
Now rumor has it the iPad event has been delayed. And now nobody has iPads.
So if I were you, I'd wait a few weeks to see how all this shakes out. There might be deals to be had.

Target has been running sales which tells me they are about to roll out new ones.
Apple Store refurbs. Go check them out. They are good deals.

We have a pair of iPad mini's at our house, and they're the perfect size for just messing around on. Full size just seems too big to use in the bed or on the couch. If I was using it for business purposes, I might want the larger screen.
If you are due for a new phone soon, maybe wait and see if you can catch a deal. The last one I got for $50 when I bought my wife and I new phones. AT&T was running a deal if you bought an iPhone you got the iPad mini for $50. The first one I bought on sale. They were $100 off at Verizon with free activation when I got it 3 years ago.
