It's a private site so every torrent is legit and virus/adware free
Torrents have tons of seeders and the downloads are fast

do the people that upload the torrents have to send them though a site admin first or something? how do people know they are free of trojan horses?

Not sure on the uploders. I ve never had any issue with the torrents being bogus.il guessing because it's a private site there is some control over the uploads

If it's a known uploader or a popular torrent with positive feedback it's good to go, usually more recent stuff is better. Seems like the older stuff has fewer options hence better chance of issues.
