International voltage converters that can handle higher wattage

So, I'm going to France with the wife in a couple of weeks. From my understanding, things like iPhone and iPad chargers are already dual voltage, so all I will need is a plug adapter.
However, I checked my wife's hair dryer and straightener, and both are not dual voltage, which means I need a converter.
Almost every thing I look at on Amazon, the comments say "Don't use with hair dryer or straightener, not enough voltage".
Can anyone recommend one that has experience with this sort of thing?

You need a transformer, not just an adapter plug. I got a traveler's transformer plus a set of adapters at REI awhile back that has worked in several countries so far, but I'm sure there are other perfectly good sources.

You have a couple of options - one is a step down transformer that is heavy as shite. You might want to call the hotel where you're staying and see if they have any transformers or do they have dryers and straighteners they can loan guests. Otherwise, plan on buying the European ones and keep them in your travel kit.
But, high wattage stuff like that - I don't think it is even worth the trouble and hassle of bringing them because of the conflicts.

You tell my wife she can't bring her straightener. I'll watch.

Just buy one over there.
Then keep it for future use.

You can buy dual wattage hair dryers and straighteners here for a lot less money than a transformer or other equipment to convert the voltage.

They are cheap on amazon. $30 for a Dual voltage Hair Dryer and $20 for a Starightener
