Chrome is the best browser IMHO but I will not use it or Google's search engine due to Google's blatant political agenda. What Google and many tech companies need is a healthy dose of non-political competition. A well managed tech company marketing themselves as such could likely garner a significant market share through said strategy.

I love Google but I recently had to switch to Safari on my work computer.

Chrome was just bringing it to a crawl on a regular basis

Yep, and it's never really posed an issue until recently. I guess I'm just taxing my 8gb too much as this computer ages. 2012 iMac, which is upgradable to 16 but is apparently beyond my skill level.

Not familiar with mac hardware but I'd figure a couple of youtube videos could get you enough information.

I run a few programs that are RAM hogs and 8 is right on the edge or running reliably but 12 is plenty. Only reason I installed 32 is because I can.

I've swapped it in my laptops, but supposedly you have to separate an adhesive and remove the motherboard.

Given it is my work computer, it's probably inadvisable for someone of my skill level

I don't know a thing about computers at all and I was able to upgrade my 2011 Macbook RAM. Runs like a brand new computer now.

I was about to call it quits and buy a new laptop.

fricking sad apple has their users duped into the idea that the computer is non-upgradeable by gluing shite to the motherboard and in need of being tossed in the trash when it just needs a little RAM

Well to be fair, not knowing shite about computers. I thought ,"Oh it's running so slow. Well it is pretty old, I guess. Might as well get a new one!"

Then my buddy just told me to replace the RAM. Worked like a charm. Easy fix. I guess I really just wanted a new Macbook instead of just looking for a solution.

ETA: But it sounds like iMac is a bit more complicated.

Pat yourselves on the back. Studies indicate those who used browsers not Safari/IE have better job performance, longevity. LINK

Can you kindly keep this bullshite off of the tech board? This is not advice.

Is this the Tech Board or the Computer Repair Help board?
Surely discussing the business operations of tech companies would be allowed here... Especially since this is basically a "hey let's talk randomly about Google Chrome" thread.

Anyway, I am similar--I don't use any Google products. I used to use Chrome in the past, but it absolutely destroys battery life on my laptop in comparison to Safari. Safari is a perfectly good browser, and I don't understand the hate for it besides people who just hate on Macs in general.

Since this is the Tech Board I'm bolding what is relevant here. Please save the rest for the poliboard.
