I bought a Kodi box

Can I use it to replace my media player in order to watch files off a usb hard drive.

Probably. What format do you have the files on the usb drive? A link to the Kodi box will help too.

You should be good to go. Make sure you have the latest version of Kodi - 16.1.

I believe the latest version of Kodi now is Kodi 17 - Krypto and the newer one is in the works and will be Leia.
The google play store has 16.1. 17 is in release candidate 3, and 18 has been named, but not sure if it is even in beta yet.

The Beta is only available when i go to sideload it with es file explorer
It's only the BETA, but it's pretty damn slow when streaming. I'm going to try out SPMC since I'm messing with this stuff
