Haven't heard much since its inception, which was a disaster. I know they made some acquisitions to enhance their mapping capabilities, but how is it from a user experience standpoint?

most, if not all of the iphone users i know still rely on gmaps for their mapping.

I've traveled throughout South Louisiana with heavy emphasis in Cameron, Jefferson and Orleans Parish for my job and I've rarely-if ever-encountered a problem.

Baton Rouge is now available in 3D Flyover mode which is awesome.

People flipped their shite about, but I've never had a single problem using it and finding where I needed to go with ease.

Not every. the 3D flyover is pretty bad arse in Apple Maps and Google doesn't have parity in that area.

Google is still better in locating businesses (dat Google search algorithm). Traffic is roughly the same. Apple maps has much better integration into iOS, obviously. That said for any sort of road trip Waze is hands down the best, even though the UI is childish.

The reality is that Apple Maps was never really that bad. Was it as good as Google Maps? No. Is it now as good as Google Maps? Still probably no.

I've used it since it was in private beta in the developer program. I've only ever once encountered a problem with it, when it was in beta, it brought me to a dead end on my route through a neighborhood. Google Maps didn't exist on iOS at that time, so I had to manually look at the map and figure my way around. Later that night I looked on Google Maps on my computer and it had the same bad mapping data.

That's the only thing that bugs me about Waze. The goofy arse smiley faces/look to it.

I have had serious problems with Google Maps in Denver. I have a brand new iphone 6 and it barely works on my phone and my wifes 6.

It has a hard time locating itself and it wont update in real time.

Apple maps works without a hitch.

I have had issues with google maps and integration on my iPhone. Usually has trouble with location and a few other minor inconveniences. Apple maps works great for me.
