I am wanting to be able to open/close my garage from my phone and be able to see if I for sure closed it in the morning.
Came across this: LINK
Anyone here purchase this add-on to an older model garage motor? Mine is only ~4 years old so I am 99.9% it will work with mine (it is also a Chamberlain model). Just want to hear some opinions/reviews before pulling the trigger.

chamberlain myq takes about 15 seconds to install and get running. given what a colossal PITA it is to program any vehicle's homekit, this is a refreshing change. should work with just about any garage.
no complaints with mine, had it for 4 years.
eta this is the universal kit that will work with ANY garage, you might want to check if yours is compatible before ordering that unit you posted.

I have the Liftmaster version of that kit. It was a little cheaper, but the same product. App works great. Search liftmaster myq to find them.

I was looking at this a few weeks ago and started a thread as well.
What phone do you have? Do you have any iOS devices that you want to use with it?
If you have an iOS device in the house, you may want to wait for the MyQ version (the one CAD linked) that includes homekit functionality. It's due out in June. The older versions will need a separate purchase of a bridge to work with homekit.
Right now I am running a homebrew setup after looking at these for awhile, but decided it was easier to get homekit functionality through a raspberry pi running homebridge and using my home brew setup until the MyQ version with homekit comes out. My solution is so effective, I may not purchase it now.

I'll double check, but I'm pretty confident my garage motor is compatible with the system I linked in the original post.
I do have an iPhone, though currently I am not using Homekit at all. Not really sure the pros and cons of Homekit compared to other hubs.

Homekit is integrated into the phone/device, you do need a 3rd gen appletv or newer or a iOS10 iPad (that you leave at home) to use it while off your wifi. It basically allows you to control shite from a quick swipe menu instead of bringing up an app.
You can also integrate all homekit devices into scene buttons. So basically when you walk in your house, you can press a quick menu "I'm home" button and it will adjust the thermostat/close the garage door/lock your locks/turn on your lights/turn on outlets/etc.
You can also time schedule stuff in it like you can in the apps or other hubs. I use homebridge on a raspberry pi 3 to bring in recipes for homekit on nonhomekit enabled devices/other radio type devices.
