I don't know what you're asking. Be more specific

A 4 zone system is not just a simple system. You will be needing multiple receivers for sure especially because it doesn't sound like you're going to pony up for one that can do 3 zones by itself.

You seem like a prime candidate from Sonos. start basic and come in later with the sub and other features.

Do you really want 4 zones? A zone means each area can play audio sources independently of the others. Do you want zones or do you want the same source to different areas?

agree. get a dual zone receiver and a channel switch so you can turn the rooms on and off individually.

He'll still need an extra amplifier at the least to power the other speakers if he wants the ability to have every speaker on at once.

What I gather is he wants tv surround sound and then 3 other "areas" with the possibility of playing the same music in every area. Is this correct OP?

Nah, He'll just need an impedance matching speaker selector. Inexpensive little box. It's not how I'd design the system but it would work.

that is what I am looking for. I will buy an amp to run the surround sound.
The same music for each zone would be a separate system unless I could use the same amp/receiver.

Then like VAbuckeye said I think it's best you get a 4 channel impedance matching selector coupled with a 2-zone receiver and you should be good to go. Easy and inexpensive option.
