Sounds like your receiver isn't into threesomes.

Religious right receivers are the worst

This is because most cable box companies have encryption protection that do not allow you to do this. I have Cox, so I know their boxes are protected.

There is a way around this. I described it in the other thread.. but I will repost here..

The cheapest way to bypass HDCP issues is using a converter along with the splitter. I know this, because I had to do this to record content from my cable box to my PC. I broadcast the LSU baseball games so I have done this for quite some time.

You will need this

Monoprice 105369 DVI and S/PDIF Digital Coax Optical Toslink Audio to HDMI Converter

then you will need this cable

HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable

HDMI to DVI.. this is how you break the encryption.

then you just need ANY hdmi splitter..
and you can use two long HDMI cords to any TVs.. and voila.. you will see your content on both screens..

this is the splitter i have

but i am sure there are other splitters.. as long as you have one hdmi input and two hdmi outputs.. and enough power. you can probably even get the 4 hdmi splitter and send out to 4 different TV/monitors lol

you plug the HDMI/DVI cable to your box and to the monprice converter.. the hdmi goes into the cable box and the DVI plugs into the monorpice part.. then from the monoprice you plug an HDMI into it and then the other end of the HDMI to the input for HDMI on your Splitter input.. then just use to hdmi cords out off your splitter..

you can use your box to send out multiple outputs, like component and HDMI (at least i know you could before) but you can't split the HDMI protection to do this without a converter.. hope this helps

I have Cox with the contour box and have no issues with the splitter. Make sure it is an output splitter (which is hard to find) vs a input splitter (where you hook two devices to one tv)

Apparently there are HDMI splitters that are HDCP-compliant on the input, and according to reviews, will strip HDCP on the output, e.g.

Then definitely try that one.

That's awesome if the splitters can strip it on their own.

Got those two things you suggested in the other thread.

Have not had a chance to hook it all up yet. Does splitting the signal hurt the picture or audio quality where it is noticeable?

That would be called a switch, not a splitter.

No difference in quality at all.

I wish I had known that they make splitters that bypass the encryption like the other guy linked.. That would be easier. I did read some comments that those run extremely hot though.. But it looks well made.

If you can, you may prefer to use that type of splitter to save yourself room. I'm thankful for this thread because none of the splitters I ever used could do this. Now I know there are versions that can on their own. I feel bad for recommending my way without knowing of that splitter. Amazon will refund you if you decide to change. If you keep it though please let me know how it works and if you need any other help.

Hope it all works out for you however you decide!

I have a matrix splitter that feeds my ps4, PS3, diectv box and Amazon Fire TV box to two different tv's

None of these sources cause any issues for me

I used to have a cox DVR in place of the directv one and it worked fine

Cox's encryption must be a new thing
