Is there an hdmi to component converter or something along those lines that would allow me to to still use appletv on the fried hdmi tv? Went to Best Buy and radio shack but those people seem clueless as to what I'm trying to do. I figured y'all ma be my best shot. Thanks!

This, but I like how in that link one of the choices is from Radio Shack.

I saw that too. I feel like these places definitely have the items needed to do,this, however the sales associates were less than knowledgable/helpful.

Surprisingly my wife agreed to this. I just purchased the Sony 55" 4K. Thoughts?

Great TV, you made a wise choice

HDMI's went out my dad's 52" Sony. We bought a used main board w guarantee from ebay for $30. It took longer to take the TV down from the wall and put it back up than change out the board.
If you can operate a Phillips head screw driver your qualified to make the repair.

This...what did you do with your old TV? If you're smart enough to diagnose a bad HDMI board on your TV you're smart enough to replace it. Would be worth a shot to me at least.

I wouldn't suggest to convert HDMI to component because component doesn't support HDCP (digital content encryption). You can buy devices to strip the encryption but in the long run it'd be more of a pain in the arse than I'd be willing to deal with. Personally I'd look into replacing the board that handles the HDMI input.
