I just got the Roku Ultra. My TV and Onkyo receiver are HDCP 2.2 compliant. The Roku is hooked up to the receiver.

I'm not receiving 4K content from the Roku. The HDMI cable I connected is an older cable I had on hand. Is an HDMI cable that specifically labeled for HDCP 2.2 required? I thought this may be the reason it's not working.

The cable has to be HDMI 2.0 compliant. If every piece of hardware in the chain is indeed hdcp 2.2 compliant then it must be the cable.

This.

And make sure you power everything down, make the connections, then power everything back up.

You need a cable that can handle the full 18Gbps bandwidth specified by HDMI 2.0 for 4K and HDR.

Get some of these cables. They have been tested to make sure they meet the specs. I use one to hook my Roku Ultra directly to my KS8000 and works great

You could also try connecting your Roku directly to your tv to make the sure receiver isn't the problem.

thanks all...after some research, it seems the cables are the least of my problems here. The way I have things set up, I have an HDMI extender and an IR repeater system which makes it a little more complicated. All of my components are in a media closet about 75 feet away from my TV. In order to connect/control these components with the TV remote, I have an IR system that bounces the remote signal from the TV back to the "IR bugs" attached to my components in the closet. The HDMI extender connects the equipment in the closet. The HDMI extender is NOT hdcp compliant after looking up the model specs. Unfortunately, this is not inexpensive to upgrade.

That would have been a useful piece of info in the OP. You gonna pay a couple hundred bucks for a UHD balun with IR, but at least the wire is already there.

I didn't realize that was the problem at first or I wouldn't have asked the question.

I wish that's all it was.

This is the kind of thing that drives people to pirate their content. Spend tons of money on equipment only to have it made useless by "copy protection".

I have a Sony AVR that was advertised as 4k capable but that was before hdcp 2.2. Someday I will upgrade it but not yet. Until then by Roku ultra doesn't do 4k either.
