In Nvidia control panel I set it to Maximize 3d performance, but when I enable sli only one of my two monitors comes on. If I set it to activate all displays or disable sli then the other will come on as well. How do I get both monitors to display in sli? I see under Set up multiple displays it says "To use two displays connect them to the same GPU." The 970 only has one HDMI port and that's all I have at the moment. Is there a way to get this working? Does this not work if I use a hdmi cable and put them in different cards. Do both monitors need to be plugged into the same card?

That's your answer. In SLI, one card becomes master and one becomes the slave. It will not detect the second monitor if plugged into the slave card. If your monitor doesn't support display port or DVI connections, you'll need an adapter.

My card does support dvi and hdmi. So Could I use the DVI port for my primary monitor and use the HDMI port for my secondary monitor? I just have to go buy a DVI cable now.

Yes. Doing the same thing right now with my SLI 980s.

Come "hang out" in the PC thread on the Gaming Board. Lots of us with hardcore gaming rigs over there.
