I have that setup but I also have the added companion remote

TBH, I find myself using the companion remote more than the ultimate. I like having the number keys and it's always charged and ready to go

I dont know because i dont have that remote. I'm just saying my old school Harmony 650's are better than the companion.

Just bought a Harmony without the backlighting for the bedroom and didn't realize it till the box and receipt was already on the garbage truck.

This remote has a built in IR blaster which can control devices with no LOS to the hub

The companion can only control devices through the hub.

Not positive that all that means lol But can this control Apple TV, fire tv, tv, and sound bar without those devices being visible?

Any devices that use IR for control need to be visible to the hub or the little IR extender that comes with the hub.

Even when using the "hub"?

Does it work with Kodi on Fire TV?

Think of how my house is. Closet with all av stuff. The remote talks to the hub through the door and the hub sends out the IR single to the devices in the closet. But what about the TV on the wall. It can not see the hub behind the door. So this remote has a IR built into it as well and you program it to also blast the TV when you hit your main command of "watch tv". So it does all the steps and turns everything on and to the right settings.

It does control fire tv so it controls kodi. I don't know if or what feature might be missing or not. I have only used that remote on kodi. I haven't got mine to control my atv4 yet but haven't really tried. I like the Apple remote kinda. I think it can do the atv control.

It controls ATV4 very well. So much easier to use the D Pad and menu buttons over the thumb swipe on ATV remote IMO.

I tried setting it all up in the program on my mac but it never worked so I never tried to figure out why. Guess I should...is there a trick to it?

You use the color touch screen like the pad on the apple remote? If so UJ that is another reason to get the one with the screen.

All you have to do is run a blaster and 3M tape it to the bottom of the TV. If you have A/V stuff already running through the walls to your TV it's like a 5 minute install.

That's the not the reason to avoid this remote. The reason is it's not backlit.

I have this one. The lack of dedicated number buttons is a big downside. Other than that, it's great as you'd expect from any Harmony remote.

I like how that one has all the hard bottoms on the lower part and screen up top. Its split on the one I have like the OP.
