Do I even need AVG or Kaspersky since Windows Defender is included in the package?

From 8.1 to 10 on my tablet. Only issue I can't solve so far is, I am forced to enter password every time I wake it. I never had to do that with 8.1, and the setting that I think takes care of this is set to never. kinda pissing me off.

Seems to me that by relegating the apps inside of a Start menu the beauty and fun of Live Tiles has been diminished on Windows 10 versus 8.1. That's why I'd like to see a fullscreen option for the Start menu.

Works absolutely fantastic for me. Boots appreciably faster than windows 8.1, but I have a powerful machine.

Good info in this thread. 8.1 was much better for me than 8.0. Haven't installed 10 yet but will shortly.

Not really. There is built in virus and firewall.

However, I stream lots of tv/movies from crappy host sites that try to slam malware on my system.

I did get lots of warning from time to time using Kaspersky which is better than Defender.

Since upgrading to 10, I have received a couple of warnings from Defender. I don't ever recall getting a warning from Defender before so maybe they jazzed it up a bit.

I do think Windows did a much better job with security with Windows 8 because I haven't been hit by a virus / malware since I first started using 8, and I got nailed several times when using Windows 7.

I've had a few issues, but so far nothing major. I had to update a couple drivers, uninstall then reinstall some programs and delete my printer and add again cause it would print but not scan. I also thought I lost my files for a sec before I found them in a different folder.

The only issue I have now is that the scroll on my touchpad doesn't work anymore. I've tried multiple fixes but nothing works. Hopefully, I can figure it out today cause it does kind of suck not having it. For the most part, it's an upgrade over Windows 7.

Thank you, sir!

The more I'm using 10 the better I like it. I especially like the Apps inside their own windows.

I've been running Defender on Windows 7 for years now with no problems.

You can change the default size, just drag the corners.

Make sure you have internet connection then check for windows updates, then install, it will take a while, but after about your third reboot it should all be working very smoothly and quick.

There might be a couple of things that still dont work the way they should or the way they did under windows 8.1, I would go out to the device or software website and see if there is an available drive for windows 10.

I have heard a lot of people have the same problems you are having, from what I have heard and experienced in the past (not windows 10 upgrade, but other os upgrades) this seems to be common place.

Rex, just saw your other posts, I am about to upgrade to 10. What all did you do to get it working better? was it just managing which apps start on bootup?

It has actually made my shitty computer run a little nicer. Apps seem to run immediately, where as it could take 5-10 seconds to start up.

Yes. It seems that Steam (the game platform), in particular, as a startup process was bogging it all down.

Starts and reboots are much quicker now.

My battery life has seen a severe drop in performance since upgrading to Windows 10. Anyone else have this issue?

Haven't had a single problem and that is with MS upgrading my install of Insider Build 10240 to the full Windows 10 pro without me having to upgrade my 8.1 pro.

Works fine for me. Installed just fine, quicker boot time and quicker Windows loading time.
