Seriously. What a bullshite company. My 2011 MBP had the widespread Logic board failure that causes the red lines on the display and prevents the computer from booting. Took it to an Apple-authorized repair center and they replaced it under the replacement program for no charge.
I take it home and it doesn't charge. Battery died so I can't even boot it. I go to the Apple Store in BR and the obese fricks that were helping me wouldn't even look at it. All I was told was "yeah we have to send it back, it'll be $280 and you'll lose all your data." i laughed and left.
Drive 45 frickin miles back to the repair center (whose employees are 1000x more pleasant and helpful than the Apple Store fricks) again and, after working on it, they tell me that it's probably the logic board again, which, if it is not covered, will cost me $800.
So apple sends a bullshite logic board to go in my computer but i may have to pay since it doesn't work. I have half a mind to just have them yank the data off the laptop and transfer it to my new computer so I can throw the old one through the window at the Apple Store. I was going to keep the old one as a travel computer but all I want is the data now.
For fricks sake. Never buying this shite again.

I always love companies that replace a working NEW component with a refurb under warranty and only extend you 3 months on whatever the hell they just put in.

Planned obsolescence is a bitch...

Dude, you should have got a Dell.

Why didn't you go back to the place that swapped out the logic board?

I did. Maybe I didn't word it specifically enough.

I mean it is a 5 year old computer at this point. I think even apple care only lasts three years? Not sure I'd expect them to replace a failing component for free after that long.
You may as well save the $280 and put it towards something new.
Oh and that's exactly why you should always backup at least once a month IMO. Never know when something will crap out.

I understand that. That being said, there's an official replacement program that replaces them at no charge. All 2011 15" MBPs are susceptible to this failure and from what I gathered, they will all suffer from it eventually. What I'm bitching about is the fact that Apple is sending refurb bullshite to these shops for use in replacements. That is bullshite.
I bought a brand new i7 15" MBP 2 weeks ago and am solely worried about the data on the old HD. Of course all these issues happen when I need to transfer my stuff smh

We will have more information for you tomorrow. There is a warranty on the MLB that was replaced in your machine. If that is in fact what is the problem, it will be replaced, again free of charge.
As far as the $800.00 for a repair, we have found it best to give worst case scenario first and go from there.

Samsung computers are where it's at. Had mine for 4 years and hasn't slowed down a bit. Battery life is still good too.

Thanks, brotha. Again, can't speak highly enough of the staff I've dealt with. Susan, Tyler, and the cute girl with the short hair were all very helpful
Can't wait to write a letter to Corporate once this is all sorted out stating how a 3rd party store completely outclassed an Apple Store.

Just spoke to Tyler. He said all is well. Broke it down to minimal configuration, reseated all connections. Ran all proper tests, everything passed.
So sounds like you are good to go, also as always with warranty work, no charges associated.
