I'm looking for a external HD to backup my Macbook and to store part of my media collection. Likely need around 1-2TB.

I have a few questions:

I've been comparing the transfer rates, are there any other stats I should be looking at?

Western Digital seems to be the most reasonable priced HDs, any downside to WD?
For example, something like this: FRYS.com Link

I've seen wireless HDs, anyone have experience with these? Is the tech fast enough yet?

Thanks for any advice

I have the 3 tb time capsule and don't have any issues with it. It also doubles as a wireless router and it super easy to set up. It's kinda pricey so if you are on a budget it may not be your best solution.

Apple is out of the router/time capsule business. They're selling remaining stock and that's it.
To OP: WD is great. I've had great life out of all my WD HDD. I've had 4 My Books and 7 My Passports.
