I was wondering if anyone ever experience anything similar.

For example, I wake up and it's always 100%. I don't get it on it very much, and I'll listen to a podcast or music on the 25-30 ride to work. I get to work and it's usually at 96-97%. About a week ago, all of a sudden with no change in my routine I get to work daily and it's in the 78-84% range.

And as I said, virtually every phone I've had previously have done the exact same thing where just 1 day out of nowhere my battery loss seems to triple or even more in its normal daily usage.

Anyone have any similar stories?

if its android you can click on the battery icon from the pull down and it will show you whats the top drain on your battery.

typically some 'bad' app will be hung up that is making your phone heat up and discharge.

a reboot fixes it 99% of the time.

Yea, that usually works for a bit, but no luck so far.

I haven't seen anything different on my battery detail, nothing really taking over 5%, no one app sticking out over the others.

can you leave it alone for like 2 hours?

if there's an offender, its usage won't be disguised by screen usage, etc.

my old N7 tablet about 1 out of 10x i leave it on will show the 'google play services' using like 90% of the battery.

a reboot and the tablet will last for several days without running down significantly.

In theory, yes lol. Shameful admission but I'm like a 14 year old girl, always on my phone. Granted, lots of it is work, but certainly lots is just goofing off.

But I can give it a whirl.

I had an issue with Google Play Services the 2nd month I went to Fi. I don't use much data, surprisingly given my how much I'm on my phone(I stay away from streaming on data though), and the 2nd month within the 1st 5 days of my billing cycle, I had used up 3.5GB, as opposed to maybe 2 total GB in my 1st month.

But Google's customer service is top notch, as they fixed the issue, fixed my bill and gave me a $50 credit for the inconvenience. That being said, even that issue didn't cut into my battery life, like it is now.

Since their customer service is so great, I may try to call them. I hate to do it with just my issue as it doesn't give them much to go on, but I guess it can't hurt to try.

which phone?

seriously, if its draining that fast, reset your battery usage and leave it alone for an hour and the bad process or app should bubble to the top so you can see what is going on.

typically an app will auto-update to a poor version and what worked great before suddenly starts wearing on your battery.

I don't have much going on at work today, so i'll definitely give this a whirl.

Yes, last night. But my issues started about a week ago, and this morning my battery drained quickly as well.

Any known issues with Nougat though with battery life?

I dont know if there are or not. And it could just be my imagination but it seems to be a bit more of a battery hog than marshmallow.

With that said I'm not too upset about it because the tradeoff is well worth it. My phone runs much quicker and the OS in general is a definite upgrade.

eta: but if you just updated last night then this doesn't apply to you. Not sure what is causing your battery drain.

Don't know how old the battery is, but it could just be the battery degrading. I know the iPhone battery is specced to have 80% of its capacity after 500 charge cycles. Having just replaced the battery in my iPhone 6 I'd say that is extremely optimistic.

My phone would do that. It started becoming more frequent so I did a factory reset and the battery has been much more stable/longer lasting.

File this under First World Problems, but I never understand when we get these updates, why don't we get a notification on the phone that then can walk us through all of the upgrades, like a tutorial?

I know, like it's soooo hard to just google it, but usually I don't. So I probably have tons of great, new features from an upgrade that I don't use because I don't know about them.

So, 1 hour later my phone is at 99%, and there's actually nothing showing for the apps taking up any charge. I guess that's a good sign?

yep, if an app were acting up you'd see more than 1% drop in an hour.

if it does it again, quickly hit 'reset' on the battery history and then see what happens after an hour

I hear ya. To me the notifications are greatly improved and the performance is improved. That's basically all i will use. I doubt i will ever use multi-screen. Just makes to screens too small and it's not like toggling between apps is some huge ordeal.

Most of the upgrades are below the surface, some are obvious like the notification upgrades, but the main ones for me that aren't so obvious how to use is quick app switching and split screen. Double-tapping the square button will quick switch between two apps. Or you can just single tap to bring up the app switcher, and then hold down on an app and drag it to the top to split the screen. After that, the bottom half of the screen still has the app switcher and you just click on another app to put at the bottom. Then you can just drag the divider to resize them, or drag the divider off screen to go back to one app.

I like it so far, haven't seen much yet.

Only small thing I don't like is, each notification type, depending on from which app, were slightly different in color. Now it seems like they're all having a white background. So if I have 4 or 5 different notifications, it's taking time to get used to them all being the same color, just a small adjustment.

I don't use it very often, but it does come in handy sometimes. For example, if someone posts a long-ish youtube video on TD, you can split screen and watch the video while you continue reading/posting.
