Unless it's a specialty switch, which is unlikely, what the OP describes is a double pole double throw switch configuration. The packaging probably says DPDT and possibly the switch itself. Of course you can always verify the circuit with a meter or continuity tester. I usually do that to satisfy my OCD.

Yup. My only concern would be if it's a Carling type switch which has a weird pin configuration.
