2.4 and 5G are the two channels.

Which do we connect our two TV's with Netflix to and which do we connect our two cellphones to?

Thanks guys!!

In my opinion, you should connect anything that has 5ghz to that channel. Reserve 2.4ghz for things that have to go on that channel - wireless printers, and such.

Can you expound a little. I don't know what that means.

We have:

Netflix TV
Netflix TV
Cellphone
Cellphone
Printer

What goes on 5G and what goes on 2.4?

Also depends how far away from the router. 5g needs to be closer.

If your devices support it, 5GHz is better for a couple of reasons. First, it's less congested not only because fewer devices use this band but also because there are more channels available. Second, because there are more channels, you can do channel bonding which doubles or quadruples your bandwidth and hence the speed of your connection. Wireless N supports bonding of two channels, wireless AC four channels. The only downside is that the shorter wavelength signal is less able to penetrate obstructions which may reduce your coverage area.

Printer probably has to go on the 2.4.

When you split your SSID into the 2 channels, if the device can see the 5ghz one, connect to that one.

The problem is that with a dual band router with a single SSID, it pushes everything to 2.4ghz. Just splitting it up solved some problems with my Amazon Firestick. It eliminated a lot of my wifi congestion.
