Domain name searches cause that domain to get snatched up?

I've used several different sites to perform domain name searches and when I find one I like that is available I notice the next day it is not available.
Are these providers using searches to figure out which domains to buy? Godaddy for example.

Yes, this has happened to me on Godaddy. I only use Inmotion my hosting company to search now, and if it one I am serious about getting, I go ahead and pick it up when I see it's available.

Never had that problem with namecheap.com

Check out Hover. Cheap, free whois privacy, way way better than Godaddy.

If you want to run a quick WHOIS you can use whois.sc
Simply type in whois.sc/yourdomain.com and it will check that specific domain name.
