Windows 8 and 10 are cool for touchscreen computers....both feel awkward on a desktop. Windows 10 is a lot more desktop friendly than windows 8. I have Windows 10 on my surface pro....but I tend to use my desktop that has Linux Mint a lot more.

Boot to desktop on Win 8.1 if you don't have a touch screen (though classic shell is a must if you want the Windows 7 interface). Windows 10 doesn't even have that problem. It integrates the tiles and desktop. You can use start menu tiles or desktop icons, or a mix of both.

If you are concerned about privacy:
13 separate privacy screens that you'll have to navigate through to shut off all information sharing.
Is Windows 10 really a privacy nightmare?

i had to go back to win 8.1.
updated to 10 and kept getting a BSOD with Internal Power Error. tried everything i could find to fix it, but it was all temporary. as soon as i rebooted, the error would show up again.
going to wait until they push the november update then try again.

I hate it. The setting on my touchpad won't keep their settings. Every time I try to type something on my laptop, it zooms the screen size up and down like I'm on acid or something.
Hate it, hate it, hate it.
Hate it, hate it, hate it.

Love Windows 10... it seems like the LEAST convoluted version in a long arse time to me.

agreed.
my upgrade path was basically:
windows NT -> windows XP -> windows 7 -> windows 10
i used enough PCs with the other OSes floating around to know i wasn't going to jack my home computers up.

I'm getting used to it, and I like the way it works.

if you let Cortana respond to any voice that says "Hey Cortana," it overzealously activates if it even thinks someone might've mumbled those words. One morning, I woke up to about 10 tabs open where Cortana had searched various things throughout the night.
Now we know you snore.
And don't hate on Windows ME. At least it was better than Bob.

Audio played weird for me on Windows 10 so I went back to Windows 7. I figured they'll eventually fix the audio issues for Windows 10 but I haven't checked back yet. I'm fine with Windows 7 for now.

Sounds like a driver issue or a problem with your keyboard not a Windows 10 issue.

I'll piggy back on this post. I've been putting off the upgrade from 7 to 10. Is everything pretty smooth with that upgrade?

For the vast majority, I think the move was pretty smooth. Not everyone.
Mine was smooth with a few small blips.
The graphics driver didn't update when I moved over to 10. From what I have seen, all I needed to do was restart my computer one more time. Even though windows finishes, reboots and tells you all is well, you might need to restart one more time for the all drivers to kick in.
Some people had trouble with sound. All you need to do is reload your sound driver if this happens.
The biggest issue that I didn't even notice for about a week was my Anti-Virus was gone. I use Kaspersky and it was not compatible with Windows 10. Seems like several anti-virus programs were not compatible.
The built in anti-virus is leaps and bounds better than it used to be, but I still like a using a 3rd party solution.
Kaspersky did have a new windows 10 version and they allowed me to carry over my license so I just loaded up the new program.
Other than that, I've had zero problems.
