Don't need one....but you sometimes have to type long web addresses when installing repositories and type names of movies/tv shows into search boxes. Its a PITA to use the amazon controller and the onscreen keyboard. I use Yatse, a remote control app for my phone. I don't use the remote feature very much but it has a keyboard function so you can type with your phone and send it to Kodi.

The fire has a remote app with a keyboard that works great as well.

You don't need it. But it's worth the 15 bucks for one.

I think everyone is assuming you're using a Fire device. Which Kodi box do you have?

On my Fire Stick I use the amazon app. My MxQ box came with a remote that allows my to type letters based on the numeric keys. I haven't had a problem with using that.

I bought the keyboard extra but I rarely use it. By the time I get it and turn it on I could've just typed it in manually.
