Do any of you folks have a chromebook?

Just got a cheap acer Chromebook for $50, basically with plans to use as a Netflix extra screen for laying in bed as I don't like a TV in bedroom, and don't like trying to prop up a tablet...Just wondering if y'all have any recommendations for items to download from the Chrome App store? Haven't looked into it much on the chrome browser, and don't have any particular needs but looking for good recommendations or cant miss items to download?
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

I feel the need to reply just because everyone is ignoring your thread.
IMO the best use of Chromebooks are as a non nonsense laptop for school.

No nonsense for school? Dude the fact you cannot run the most basic of programs like Microsoft Office makes its completely worthless for school.
Excel...Nope
Access...Nope
Powerpoint...Nope
Word...Nope
OneNote...Nope
Outlook...Nope
I use atleast 4/6 daily.

lol what old man?
i work in IT and have tons of MSFT documents but when it comes to being productive, 95% of what my small team uses is gdocs.
we can always save as a word doc for you dinosaurs if you insist on attachments being passed around in email.
eta
open pptx, docx, xlsx, etc. in gdocs? YES
collobroate online with non-neanderthals for the same docs above? YES
save as word docs and email as attachments for dinosaurs? YES

Microsoft Office is available online for free.

No its not. I'm talking 100% functional Microsoft Office not Office Online.

Been awhile since you've been in school?
LSU uses gmail for their .edu accounts therefore everyone you collaborate with is already ready to go using gdocs.

Small team is the correct modifier.
With Google Docs boasting only 85% functionality of the base Office product only "small" teams will be able to skirt by with an 85% solution.

Like the size of a group for a class project?
We're still talking about school, right?

Yes, however any school worth their salt is also using the productivity programs the workforce is using.

please please, gramps. show me the 'missing 15%' that you cant do with a google doc.
i'm really curious what high-falutin' computing you're doing that requires the OEM Microsoft Office EXE files.
the longer it takes you to respond about what is missing the more i'm going to think you're full of shite.

Something I use multiple times a day and is extremely simplistic. Run a macro on Google docs like you can in Excel.
Posted on 8/24/15 at 3:14 pm to OleWarSkuleAlum
Also something I do daily is embed fully functional excel files that have all the functions and formulas attached and editable within a PowerPoint slide.
Not sure but pretty positive Google docs cannot do that.

That is so incredibly dumb. Okay so you have to not only download your spreadsheet app but also a script app in order to run something that kind of sort of looks like a macro.
Or I can just use one program and it's much more intuitive and user friendly.

something i did was build an app for my phone as a proof of concept for my son and we used not only google docs but a fusion table to create an online database for the app to connect to all FREE and all cloud-based.
i'm sure your editable chart inside of a ppt is far more useful.

how did you get that from this:

From within your new spreadsheet, select the menu item Tools > Script editor. If you are presented with a welcome screen, click Blank Project.
