Too much aggravation. I tried to suck it up for awhile but it's just been seemingly worse and worse. Kodi is a pain in my rear, antenna is spotty at best.

Ended up going to DTV and ATT internet. For $90/month with DVR, NFL Sunday ticket, all local channels, etc it was hard to pass up.

Anyone else here switching back or thinking of it?

Ditched it last week and went back to Cox cable.

Just not for me.

don't blame you man. maybe in a few years it'll take over but i was paying $60/month for internet through cox and $35/month for DTV now. it was ok. had kodi also but thats too much of a pain for me. UI sucked and never could find anything reliable.

If you arent a technical guy, then its not for you. I hope more people bail cuz there are too many people coming to the dark side.

I am very much a technical guy. Work in IT and have been into electronics and A/V since I was kid.

It's not for me. It's getting closer. But not there yet.

Have you tried Terrarium TV and mobdro? Both are kicking arse at the moment.

I've had some frustration with buffering, etc. on every streaming service I've tried. Unfortunately, I don't have any options that are close enough in cost for me to go back. Best I could do is Dish, which would run me $40-50 more than I'm paying for DTVNow. I'd consider it, if there was no contract, but I don't want to be locked back in and regret it.

I'm right there with you. I'm paying $130 a month for DTV + ATT 1G fiber (at least for the next year) & it's well worth it for the DVR & simplicity for the rest of the family. Once DTV Now has the DVR and our local channels, we may be talking, but until then I'm old school.

How good is the internet?

I've cut the cord but streaming issues with my Fire Stick are making me wary. I need to get a new wifi router and possibly a FireTV. Plus I'm bumming a bunch off my dad, and he's thinking about cutting the cord as well.

$49 for 60 Mbps internet plus $10 for Netflix, $25 for SlingTV, and $15 for HBO is more than what you're paying. Pretty much all I do is watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, or football.

But it is nice not having a contract.

I've had zero issues with it. I like just having the simplicity back. All that works one week doesn't work the next is too much hassle for me. I liked being able to turn my on my tv last night and getting a clear HD channel for football with no bs.

I think the future for streaming cable is close but it's not there yet. I'll revisit in 2 years. $90/month isn't really a contract to me. I practically payed that for cutting the cord with internet, DTV now, Netflix, etc etc.

This is part of the issue at our location. We have a lot of trees so that might be part of the issue. No clear line of sight for a dish and I don't want a dish on our roof or in our yard anyway. So we enjoy Cox Cable and Internet and pay the price for consistent high performance.

I got rid of DTV 2 years ago.
Just got Cox 2 weeks ago b/c my internet went up to $90, so I got a cable package and bill is at $112 now.
I haven't watched cable yet, and i'm wondering what was the point of getting this.

Sadly we ditched cord cutting after ATT Uverse gave us a deal for internet + U300 for 105$ a month locked in for 24 months.

I'll have to revisit in 22-23 months but still...

You like the Uverse tv? I had it before and wasn't a big fan. Plus the NFL Sunday ticket convinced me of going with DTV instead

Cord cutting is a nice idea but it's really not practical for most families. If I lived in an apartment with no kids yeah I'd cut the cord. But now with a tv in the living room, bedroom, and porch it ain't worth it. I'm locked in for 2 years with xfinity for $120 a month cable and Internet. I like live football, I like having a dvr, I like not having to frick with an antenna. If I were to cut the cord I'd still be spending damn near $100 a month on internet and subscriptions. The convienence outweighs the savings at this point. Hopefully that will change in the future.

Yea, we almost went with DTV because of that but I heard people lose signal a lot in storms.

I think cord cutting is more practical for families than a single guy.
The reason my DTV bill was so high is b/c i had 5 tvs, where they charge you for every tv.
with cord cutting, i got two Roku3 for free using sling, bought 2 fire tvs, and my main tv is an androidtv. So i spent $200 on equipment, and it's mine, and i don't have to pay anything extra for it. I'm going to get a TCL built in Roku tv for my den come Thanksgiving as well.

The most irritating part about cable companies is renting their equipment. $10 for the modem/router that sucks, $10 for the HD DVR, $10 for the DVR service, $5 for every additional tv. I'm paying $50/mth just to rent equipment from them. I spent $200 on streaming devices, and $200 on a new modem and router. Only took me 8 months for my ROI when i cut the cord in that regards.

I still don't watch cable, even though i have cable. I got just one HD reciever from them, and all i really wanted from them was access to the on demand stuff (so i can watch all the new shows this fall the next day), and all the apps like ESPN, Fox, Disney Jr, Nick Jr, History etc, so i can watch sports and my kids can watch their shows. We have 6 tvs right now, and about to get a 7th. If I had cable boxes at each one, my bill would be enormous.

You lose signal in bad storms but in this day and age that really shouldn't be an issue. When I had DTV in NO it would happen a handful times a year during a powerful rain storm.

I'd just use an antenna if football was on the main stations or switch over to the ESPN app. With the internet you can just work around it for the small duration it occurs.

Also, if you aren't clamoring for something live, you should have hours of crap on your DVR to work through anyways.

If my options were that, I wouldn't do it. But they had a deal for $90 a month. 4 receivers free, free dvr, free locals, free NFL ticket, free att modem but I also own mine.

So I don't have to pay anything to rent from them besides the boxes but those are free so it doesn't matter.
