So I'm setting up a little camp by the river and am taking one of my directv boxes from the house along with an extra dish I have. I'd like to be able to set everything up in a small closet instead of having wires everywhere. How difficult is this to accomplish?

What do you mean without wires everywhere?

You'd have to have a Genie box and one extra Genie mini and wifi to make it work without wires.

I'm honestly not sure. I've just seen where recently people who are relocating store all of their electronics in a closet where everything is hidden. I wasn't sure how difficult of an undertaking that would be

Also, say if I have two tv's in separate rooms but one receiver. Is there a way to be able to watch the same channel on both tv's. Obviously I won't be able to watch both tv's at the same time on different channels with one receiver but I was hoping to be able to keep a tv outside and inside without moving the box around constantly

Just mirror the box on the second TV. Use an hdmi splitter or hdmi on one and component cable on the other.

Depends on the layout of the camp. If it has an attic that you can get to and run wires down the wall, then it may not be too difficult. If you plan on setting up the TV on an exterior wall, it may be a little more challenging to fish the wire down the wall due to cross studs and insulation.

You will need to run a cable wire from the dish to the closet where the satellite receiver is. Then you will need to run some form of cable from the receiver to the 2 TVs. Depending on the distance, either HDMI cable, or Cat6 using something like this.

Pretty difficult if not impossible. There are ways to better hide them. You'd probably need to give an idea of the camp for posters to be able to help.

So I plug the split itself into one TV, and plug another hdmi cord into the receiving in of the split and the other TV? I'm assuming the tv's would have to be almost on back to back walls to prevent the cords from being overly exposed?

Research is telling me I may need a HDCP splitter?

If you look at the picture, the mail end of the splitter would go into the satellite box, then you would run a cable from each TV to the female end of the splitter.

Gotcha. Would audio be good on both tv's?

Yes, HDMI cables transmit audio and video.

Last question. Do both tv's have to be on when in use?

No, you can use either TV, or both at the same time.

What's the length of cable you will need to go from the closet to each TV. Remember to include going up the wall and back down.

I'm probably gonna scrap the closet idea. Just going to set the DTV receiver up in the main living area with the HDMI split and run a cord into the bedroom somehow - hopefully through the wall

Relocate power and cable wall plates (if necessary) to spot tv will cover.

Velcro tape receiver to back of tv - receiver can come home each trip too. Make sure you have RF remote.

Hang tv.

Make sure you have DTV site logins and net access. Ever since one of my receivers is away from home, it requires a refresh with each use.
