I need a device where someone can type and it will show up on a screen. My father can no longer talk and I need an idea to help him communicate. Must be very simple to use and not require Wi-Fi

You need to give more info.

Any tablet / laptop / desktop should do this unless you have other criteria.

Will the people communicating with each other be in the same room? I suspect this since you state Wi-Fi can not be used.

Do you need an audit trail of the written part of the conversation to refer back to? Does your father need to cut and paste prior parts of the conversation to speed up writing what he wants / needs?

Hey Broke, sorry to hear about your dad. I have a sister that has been nonverbal all her life, among other disabilities. There are different options out there, depending on his circumstances. Are you in the BR/Louisiana area? How is his dexterity? Will he be able to type long term or would he need something simple with symbols with the ability to type out something custom?
