My experience is with PC and I can't imagine that Mac is any cheaper to do, but:

If the Mac crashed and the data on the HD is good then getting data off of it isn't hard and won't be too expensive. Most any computer repair place can do that. You could do that at home if you wanted, just have to own a couple of the right tools.

If the HD bricked and that caused the crash then you've got problems. Data recovery is insanely expensive. I had a 2TB HD and got quotes from $400-$1800 and even with that they wouldn't guarantee that it would be successful. If you're lucky then they can just replace a few components of circuit system that controls the HD, but if they have to use a "clean room/space" (if you have a spinning disk drive) to put the platters into another system then you might as well just consider it lost (unless there is irreplaceable stuff on it and you just have to have it).

If the second scenario applies to you, sorry to give you the bad news, I've been there myself. In all likely hood you won't find someone locally to deal with it and will have to mail it off.

Computers fail. If it's important to you, back it up!

Nortech

Not in BR, but a short drive to Hammond. This can be a relatively easy repair or difficult, but Nortech can provide you answers.
