Mine started doing the same thing yesterday so I replaced the modem with a brand new one. Thought it was fixed but it started again tonight. I called cox and after trying to reset the modem the Internet went out completely. They are refunded my account but I have to wait until Monday until someone can come out and fix it.

You don't see a problem with having to spell out that you don't want to get charged extra for them to actually give you what you already pay for? It should be obvious that I don't want to get charged when they fix their own shite!

Also, cox is so cool about dmca complaints. they just send warnings, never do anything.
What else are they gonna do? They aren't the authorities. And if they cut you off, that's just less money for them. So cool.

No, they don't. Cox gets so much hate. Never had any complaints with them. Just be up front. Speak to the technical department before making the appointment that you don't want to get charge but you aren't getting your speeds. They will do all they can to fix it. Make it known you don't want any charges to fix it. You'll be fine.
When I moved into my current apartment, I turned on my service with Cox and it was already on when I got home, when it should have been off. I thought that was odd, but gave them credit for having it on so fast. Well two days later I come home and no internet at all, nothing worked. I checked on my end and everything was good. I worked with customer service for hours to make sure it was working correctly, but no matter what the Internet wouldn't work. They had a technician come out TWICE to check my setup and whether they were getting interference on my end, if the cable was set up correctly, etc. At that point, I was asking them whether the service was turned on. After two weeks of this bull, I called cox and had them put me through to a manager, and told them to check if my service was on. Sure enough, it wasn't. No one had ever actually checked. It took them another week to get the guy to go out there and turn it on bc "it requires a different person than the normal techs, and he's booked". A month passed between my service going out and getting it turned on.
At that point I threatened everyone with cutting my service, and I eventually got 2 months of credit. But now I'm having the same "slow at night" issue. frick Cox
