Called to cancel phone and basic cable.

Basic hasn't worked since January because I refused to get one of those little boxes.

I never use the phone. It is just there in case of emergency. Well, I realized I haven't had any marketing messages in a long time. No pollsters. So I picked up the phone and sure enough. It isn't even working.

Called cox. Woman beat me. She cancelled the phone but she wouldn't budge on the basic. If I cancel basic my internet rate is $11 more than having basic and internet bundled.

I made faux threats to drop internet too but she knew I was full of crap. She pretty much stated that there wasn't an alternative remotely as good as cox internet which is true, but I was hoping I could bluff a bit.

Well, at least I finally ditched the phone I never use.

So you lied to the rep and she called you on your BS. You will go to hell for this one day.

I know. I've seen the stories from people leaving Cox only to return because of the crappy net from other companies.

Yup. I'll still use Vue for football season. That plan hasn't changed.

I actually have to get the boxes. They won't let me keep the service without the boxes.

They actually cut my bill in January by removing the cost of basic because I didn't have the boxes. They won't let you pay just to keep the bundle without getting the stupid boxes.

This unless you are fortunate enough to live in one of the areas with leading edge fiber service.

We have had Cox Cable for many years. We are very pleased with our internet performance and the TV service. It's expensive but it's definitely a: you get what you pay for thing. We simply aren't interested in jumping through the cord cutting hoops to save maybe 30 bucks a month.

Call and tell them you have no problems going to U-Verse internet(even though you probably do), tell them you're not in the business of making money, you're trying to save it and you don't care where that savings comes from.

Worked for me, my area doesn't even have U-Verse...got 59.99 Cox internet 100 megs

I had cox, hulu, amazon, and netflix already.

Cutting the cord saves over $100 a month for me so I'm not sure where you get your little $30 per month. Handing them $1,200 for a service I hardly use isn't going to happen when I have EASY options.

I was paying $170. Now $61 so actually $109 in savings and as I stated. My main reason for cutting is that I wasn't ever turning the box on unless it was football season. Most of the time I just head over to Hulu, Netflix or Prime. I actually can't tell you what day a tv shows airs. Game of Thrones on Sunday. That is about it.

So yes, handing them $1,200 when I don't need to, well, that's just stupid.

I cut the cord from Directv and i'm saving about $90/month.

That sad part is Cox knows they have the best internet by a mile. I pay $74/month I think for internet, 100mb, and i'd rather pay Cox $74 than pay AT&shite $34 for their crappy internet.
