Corrupted SD Card

Currently have a note 4. When i get a new phone, will this ad card magically work again or did i lose everything?
How the hell did it become corrupted anyway. Just stopped working randomly one day.

SD cards are antiquated for this very reason. Use the cloud. You can try to back all the files from the SD card on to your computer if you have an adapter.

So it didn't work in the new phone? I know mine didn't work in a new Moto X moving from. An older Moto X. Apparently I had set it up to work as system memory.....not a second memory option.....and the new phone with Marshmallow did not recognize this setup.

I ended up getting a Nexus 6P with Project Fi so no SD card port.
