I know, I know CL is garbage but I live in a relatively rural area where there aren't many ISPs plus when it's working the speed is actually fairly decent. Any ideas of what could be going on here?

It happens most every night around this time, I have also noticed it happening at 1 am on the dot before then coming back a few minutes later

Of course I plan to call them to ask about it soon but everyone knows how much fun that is and how unlikely it is to be of any help

It's just very annoying thing that always seems to happen as I'm trying to stream a show right before bed. Bout tired of it

I have Centurylink's fiber service and had some frequent but unpredictable speed problems. After calling about 5-6 times and having techs come out they actually sent the engineer who was in charge of the entire neighborhood fiber installation. He found the problem that day.

In short call and give them a chance to fix it although it may require some persistence on your part. It is most likely some faulty hardware somewhere down the line.

Maintenance windows for most ISP's start @ 11pm-12am and go to 6-7am.

They could be working on the network.

Don't waste your time calling them. That is their network maintenance window. Every ISP does the same thing.

I have to admit my first thought when reading "noticed it happening at 1 am on the dot" and "trying to stream a show right before bed"

was... There is your problem right there, you are staying up too late! Just go to bed
