Their tech was java based. And that was the problem. They waited three years too long to move on it because it was doing so well. Plus they had two to three CEO's at the same time. And they were all hardware guys. See IBM in 80's and early 90's. Hardware guys can get ossified in their thinking. They got left behind. Hell, they used to make jokes about the ipad and iphone.

New team is much better. Case studies will be written about Mr. Chen and his crew.

unlikely. Blackberry isn't going to go out of business tomorrow or anything, but they completely missed the boat on a wide variety of topics.

They will still have a niche with certain business and gov't users, plus healtcare (great support for HIIPA).

But they will not challenge Apple or samsung or HTC.

Don't think they are trying to.

BBM was the huge miss. They were whatsapp and they totally blew it.

Don't underestimate mobile security and QNX.

Little bit of a problem with ATT. Wont work yet on LTE, just 4G on ATT. Am sure when ATT rolls out its version that will change. These phones are unlocked.

I've read a little about that. It sounds like if you had to activate a new sim card then LTE is an issue. If you use an existing sim that was LTE activated it is no problem. Bottom line, ATT are a bunch of idiots. If it's not iPhone/Android they have no idea what to do. I've also seen rumors that they will not carry the Passport until 2015. Blackberry has to overcome this carrier hurtle if they expect to survive in the consumer space.

I think ATT will get it in 45-60 days. That claim come from one source that's not verified. Think the rant and rumors. Makes no sense for ATT to do that. Chen wouldn't give them an exclusive deal if they were going to screw him like that.

You are right about the sim card and lte.
